Where Songs Stop Being Drafts

A calm, performance-first recording process
A lot of songs don’t get finished — not because they’re bad, but because the process of finishing them becomes overwhelming.
Studio time can feel rushed or intimidating. Working alone at home can lead to endless revisions and second-guessing. Somewhere along the way, the original feeling of the song gets diluted.
This project grew out of wanting a simpler, more grounded way to capture music — one that values listening, presence, and committing to a moment.

What This Is
I offer guided song recording sessions for musicians, songwriters, and small ensembles, held in quiet outdoor locations near Volkspark Lichtenrade.
At its core, this is outdoor music recording in Berlin, approached in a calm, performance-first way. The setup is lightweight and professional, but deliberately unobtrusive. The focus is on musical decisions rather than technical perfection.
Ambient sound becomes part of the recording, not something to be edited out later. The environment matters, but it never takes over.
This isn’t about creating a “perfect” recording. It’s about making something finished, honest, and usable.
Why Outdoors?
Working outside changes how people play.
There’s less pressure, fewer expectations, and often more focus. Without the feeling of being “in a studio”, musicians tend to listen differently — to themselves, to each other, and to the space they’re in.
This approach sits somewhere between field recording and mobile recording in Berlin, offering flexibility without sacrificing sound quality.
For this kind of work, that shift matters more than having unlimited tools.
How a Session Works
A typical session lasts around three hours and includes:
a short conversation about the song and what you’re aiming for
focused multitrack recording
listening back together
choosing a take that feels right
The goal isn’t to record everything — it’s to record what matters.
You leave with a finished recording that reflects how the song actually sounded when it was played — a clear, performance-led song recorded in Berlin, without studio pressure.
Who This Is (and Isn’t) For
This works well for:
songwriters with songs that feel “almost done”
musicians who want a clear document of a real performance
duos or small groups who prefer a calm, intentional process
This is not a traditional studio session, and it’s not built around heavy editing, effects, or polishing after the fact.
If you’re looking for a performance recording in Berlin that prioritises listening and commitment over endless options, this approach is likely a good fit.
Pilot Sessions
As I get this project up and running, I’m offering a small number of pilot sessions at a reduced rate. This helps me refine the format and keeps the process flexible at the beginning.
If this sounds interesting, feel free to get in touch. I’m happy to explain more and see whether it makes sense for what you’re working on.
Sometimes finishing a song doesn’t require more tools —just a bit of space, attention, and commitment.
