An interesting listening exercise
What do you need?
Something to write on and write with.
(optional) A group of friends to to experience this with.
Steps to follow:
Find a good spot outdoors or next to an open window.
Clear your mind and start to focus on your breath.
Slowly start to move your aural focus towards sound of your body.
Continue with your immediate surroundings and move further and further away.
Note how many sounds can you hear. What is the furthest sound? Which one seems to be closest?
Going the extra mile ...
Use earplugs to block your ears for at least 15 minutes before and remove them just before you start the listening experiment.
