I started playing the piano in my early teens, beginning with classical and popular music, it wasn't until I went to university that I delved into the world of Jazz.

It doesn't matter whether you want to play solo, play in a band, write your own music, arrange your favourite songs or just see where your interest in learning an instrument takes you. Deciding to begin is the first step to make progress and choosing to get help is proven to speed up that progress.

You might be thinking 'with the resources and technology available to us, one can learn almost any song they want with a little bit of research'. In my opinion, this is true but it all depends on your goals. If you only want to play a few songs and have endless patience, then yes, the internet is the place to go. If you want to learn how to really play an instrument and be able to play all sorts of music then studying with a teacher is a reliable method. A teacher will help you find music that suits your level while achieving your goals and making progress. Kind of a personal trainer for your musical goals.
